Oatmeal Energy Bites

Lately I’ve been speaking with lots of clients that have a sweet tooth.

They’re looking for a snack they can allow themselves to eat, that “maybe isn’t as bad as a chocolate bar”?

I know the feeling. I’m all about balance-I don’t believe you should take all the sweetness out of your life. You just need to know the better options for you, and how to make it work FOR you instead of AGAINST you.

Basically, as long as you pair your sweet craving with a bit of fibre and protein, you’re balancing out the bad with a whole lotta good. We all deserve to eat some sweetness from time to time, right?

BUT WAIT.

That doesn’t mean eat a chocolate bar with a bran muffin and chicken breast and you’re out of the woods.

What I mean is, try a little bit of a natural sweetener like maple syrup, honey, or dates, and pair them with a whole grain and maybe some all natural nuts and seeds, and you’re doing your body good.

Honestly, I love sweet stuff. So I found a snack that I can indulge in without feeling guilty.

Plus these are a big hit with my kids so I make a big batch and keep them in the fridge for fast snacks. My husband loves these too-they hit all the marks when it comes to cravings.

If you’re looking to make these beauties nut-free, you can simply use sunflower butter instead of all natural nut butter. And then they’re school safe as well. WIN!

Easy, make-ahead, portable bites. Great for after school snacks, before sports snacks, midnight snacks…whatever your need-these bites fill the void.

Another reason I love these snack bites is they are PACKED with healthy omega-3 essential fatty acids from the hemp hearts. Not to mention the extra protein, vitamins, and minerals you get as well. Fibre, protein, and healthy fats?

Pair a few of these with a glass of water and you’ve got yourself a PERFECT snack.

Our favourite is chocolate chip (for obvious reasons) but you can get creative with your ingredients! Next I want to try rolling these in crushed goji berries for an extra anti-oxidant boost!

Which is your favourite?
