Were you inspired by Health on the Shelf? Want to stock your cupboards with healthy ingredients? It will save your sanity and help you and your family make healthy choices this year.
But don’t forget the fruits and veggies!
One easy way to get more into your diet is to have them delivered directly to your door every week. No excuses! Depending on where you live, there are many options out there. There are organic delivery baskets, CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture), and you can even get all your groceries delivered if you spend the time online ordering. It’s a wonderful world we live in nowadays. Take advantage!
You can see if there is a CSA located near you at a website like this one for Ontario CSA Farm Directory.
I was very lucky to have Mama Earth Organics in Toronto deliver a delicious basket of goodies to my door. They were friendly, on time and FRESH. Have a look at what I got in my basket and all the goodies I made:
- 3 crisp apples: Snacks
- 2 avocadoes: One on toast, the other-in a salad
- 1 cucumber: Cut up for lunches
- 1 bunch of kale: Creamed kale
- 1 head of romaine lettuce: Caesar salad
- 1 onion: soup base
- 1 bag of mini potatoes: Roasted for dinner
- 1 bunch bananas: half snacks, half muffins
- 1 grapefruit: Mmmm…grapefruit…snack
- 3 oranges: snacks
I didn’t waste a single morsel! You can get a smaller one if this seems big or an even bigger one if this won’t be enough. And they’ll deliver every week and use a reusable bin. Awesome.
Of course, you could grocery shop yourself and get all this goodness. But what I love about this delivery is: I never know what I’m getting until a few days before! And then I can plan my whole week around the fun stuff I get in there. Baskets like these encourage creativity in my cooking-and I love to be creative in the kitchen! If that’s not really your thing, you can always customize it too. They’re so flexible!
If you’re considering a fruit and veggie delivery, you can always try it out and see if it’s for you and your family. Tell Mama Earth I sent you! They’ll be happy to help.
Whatever you do, try to incorporate more fruit and veggies into your diet. Something green and something orange every day is a good start. Then try to have veggies or fruit at every meal or every snack. Eventually it’ll be a no brainer. You’ll start reaching for the good stuff without even thinking about it.
